;Percentile
:Define the 2 percentiles to be displayed in the generated graphics.

;Aggregate Time/Gender
:By aggregating gender, the graphic will join the values from male and female providing a total. Aggregating time, combined with the selected Time Split, generates the graphic with the time aggregated on that time split. For instance, aggregating time, having the time split in weekdays and selecting one month span, it would display the days of the aggregated days of the week.

;Time split
:Determines what each plot will represent in the graphic.

Targeted Advertising
Triggers
Here you can configure the conditions to trigger events on the player. The conditions can be age, gender and/or mood profiles. When those conditions are met, the player will play the selected media for the specified duration.

Media
Upload the wanted media here so it becomes available in the trigger configuration. This media will be uploaded to the player when the trigger is created.

Options
Age Span
Age spans are used for Triggers and the viewing of some graphics. The purpose it to have several age spans that fulfill all possible ages.

Mood Profiles
A mood profile is a set of intervals of the four possible mood indicators in the software. For instance, a possible profile can be one that considers people happy.

Schedule
The schedule is configured by adding exceptions to the schedule itself. This means that each entry corresponds to a period of time where the graphics won't yeld results (i.e.: the store is closed).

For instance, if the schedule is from 9:00 to 13:00 and then from 14:00 to 18:0, one would add the exceptions from 00:00 to 09:00, from 13:00 to 14:00 and from 18:00 to 23:59.
Getting Started
This is Retail Analytics main window, where you can start the software engine.
In the left side, you have "Video Source". Select the camera you want to use with the system. Click the play button on the right.
In the right top corner, you can select "Full Screen" to run the system in full screen. To configure your triggers please refer to Triggers.

Advanced Settings
Engine Mode
There are two modes for the engine: "Kiosk" and "Big Space". The differences between the two are related to the trigger activation.

;Kiosk
: In Kiosk mode, the trigger is activated as soon as a person stands in front of the camera. The system analyses the person's data and starts its trigger, for the respective kind of consumer (by gender, age group, ...).
;Big Space
: "Engine Settings" has an option named "Big space tick frequency". This option is defined in minutes and refers to the time interval of analysis. If set to 30 (minutes) this means that, for 30 minutes the engine will analyse the consumer's data (gender, age group) without any trigger during that time. After 30 minutes and after find the predominant kind of consumer, the specific trigger will start.

Engine Settings
;Learn time
: After recognize a face, this is the amount of time spent analyzing data (gender, age, ...) that is stored in Database.
;Minimum face size
: Minimum needed area on screen to consider as a face (in pixels).
;Maximum face size
: Maximum needed area on screen to consider as a face (in pixels).
;Analyse gender
: Enable if you want to analyse surprisedness.
; Show face size
: Enable if you want to see the face size (area occupied) on screen.
; Show resolution
: Enable if you want to see the video source resolution.
; Show frame rate
: Enable if you want to see the video source frame rate.
; Search eyes
: Enable if you want the system to search by eyes for a more accurate recognition.
; Search nose
: Enable if you want the system to search by nose for a more accurate recognition.
; Search mouth
: Enable if you want the system to search by mouth for a more accurate recognition.
; Track faces
: Enable if you want keep tracking faces even if their data is not stored. A tracker is activated that tries to track the faces that were lost by the face detection module.
; Time base
: Related with fps. The smaller this value is, the greater the value of fps you'll get (if your system can handle it). 25fps would require a value of 0.04 (40ms).
; Thread count
: Set number of threads used for processing. If you run this system on a machine with more than one single cpu (or core), it typically will be faster to use all cpus. The number of threads is limited to 10. But it only makes sense to provide at most the number of available cpus available.
; Model type
: Defines which model is used to detect faces. For the value "Front", a model is used to detect upright frontal faces. For the value "Rotated", the detection model used is able to detect -60 to +60 degree in-plane rotated faces. For the value "Profile", the model used is able to detect upright frontal and out-of-plane rotated faces.
; Memory length
: An identity number is assigned to each face, an 'id', which is constant as long as the trajectory can be determined without discontinuity. This option defines for how long (in seconds) a face is remembered internally, so that a connection of a currently detected face to the same face detected some time ago can be made.
; Memory type
: Only takes effect if "Memory length" > 0. For "Spatial" the face id is remembered internally and assigned again if a face is lost and found again at approximately the same position in the image. However if a face is lost and found again in a different position a new id is assigned. This is the fastest method of the three.
; Phantom trap
: Tries to find false detections (phantoms). If "Off", this module is not used. If "Delete", false detections are identified and deleted on the fly. If "Mark", identified false detections are marked by the module. Each object will have an additional attribute with the key ’Phantom’. No objects are deleted in this mode but their data is stored.
; Minimum face score
: This is the minimal face detection threshold. Each face has a rating with key ’Score’ that indicates how likely it is to be a face. Using this parameter you can set a minimal score for the faces that will be returned by the engine. The lower this value is the more faces but also false detections will be found. A good value is 9.
; Auto start engine
: Enable if you want to start the engine (store data) whenever the application starts.
; Show log
: A log window appears on the bottom.
; Web server port
: Port used in the Web Server.
; Database port
: Port used in the Database.

Start Engine
After click the "Start Engine" button, the system will start collecting the consumer's data, storing them in a Database. Whenever you want to view/analyse the data stored in a graphical mode click "Retail Analytics & Targeted Advertising".
If you click the "Open" button the next window will show up.

Here you can manage all your schedules as well as import new schedules.

Clicking the "New" button, will be prompted the name you want to give to your schedule. Instantly, the "Default Event" button becomes enable.

clear
Default Event
Until a default event is created you can't create sub events (the "Sub Events" button is disable). A default event is a default project or a loop of projects (playlist of projects) that will run until a scheduled project starts (if defined). Clicking it will show a list with all your projects.

Here you can select which projects you want to play and their duration. The selected projects will work in loop for the defined duration.
Once you have a playlist of projects defined you could now create sub events (the "Sub Events" button becomes enable).

clear
Sub Events
Here you will create an event. An event is a project or a set of projects that will run at defined date and time. You must name it and give it a colour to identify it. Then, you can choose which projects you want to run an its duration (like your default event).

After this you will set event's options, like "Scheduling interval". Here you must choose if you want your event to be executed only once ("Single Event"), every day ("Daily"), every week ("Weekly") or every month ("Monthly"):

;Single Event
: A 'single event' will run only once at a pre-defined date and time. If the sum of the duration of all projects is greater than the event's duration, the current project running in player will be stopped and the default event will start.
;Daily
: A 'daily event' will run every day or every set of days chose in "Repeat every". You can also choose if you want this to stop after a number of occurrences or to run until a selected date.
;Weekly
: A 'weekly event' will run every week or every set of weeks chose in "Repeat every". The "Weekly" option is fairly similar to the previous, except in this you must choose the weekdays that you want your event to occur. For instance, if want to play this event every weekend you must choose "Repeat every 1 week" and select "Saturday" and "Sunday".
;Monthly
: A 'monthly event' will run at a day every month or every set of months. In this kind of event you must choose the day of the month you want to run this event and its frequency.

After you create the event, it'll show up in the left bar as well as in the calendar at the defined date and time. As a little help, if you have multiple events, just (single) click in the event in the left bar and a red flag will appear in the event in calendar. You can delete the event or edit it.
clear
Daily View
Clicking an event in calendar will bring you to the "Daily View" window, which enables you to check the project's timeline for that day. This window shows the timeline for that day as well as the project or projects that each event will run. If you click the event in "Day events" table, all the information related to it will show up. Scrolling in and out on top of the timeline will zoom in and zoom out for a better perspective. Pressing the "Edit event" button, will bring you to the Schedule's edit window.

:Allows recalling a cancelled ticket X tickets behind, being X the specified value. This is used in cases where someone already has a ticket but left and then arrives late. If that person arrives within X tolerance, it can be recalled.

;Time in seconds to consider ticket cancelled
:If the time between calls from a single desk is shorter than the specified time, the ticket will be considered cancelled. This is a feature suitable for cases where the desks call tickets from a button and not a QM Pad, since it's not possible to manually mark a ticket as answered from a button.
Services
Configure here the services that will be provided. In the event of a multiple monitor setup, it's possible to specify in which screens will each service be available.

Set Limits
Allows one to set up to three different limits on each service. Limits can be set by time interval and/or by number of tickets. Each time a limit is reached, the ticket dispenser will no longer give tickets for that service.

Attendance Desks
Desks can be configured the same way as Services, with a title and a description as well as specify the monitor it will be enabled on.

Desk priority level
Different priorities can be given to each service. A service with a higher priority will always be called first than another one with a lower priority, even if the ticket was taken earlier. Services with the same priority will be called by the regular ticket order.

It's also possible to fully disable a service in a given desk.

You can change text colour, font and background colour. This background colour is used whenever a background image isn't defined.
In "Bottom text" you can write a message to the screen's bottom of the dispenser as well as an "Offline message".
Add the services you want to appear on the screen. Here you can also create a tree of services, in other words, each service could have none or more services in it. Then you can change the layout of each button and the background image.

After make the connection with dispenser, you can upload an image to its printer, test it and set a margin. Press "Send to Printer" to upload the image and "Exit".

Then, you can also set a few more options. Add a "Bottom text", "Extra text", "Print service description", "Print waiting time" and "Print number of customers on front". If you want to work with a different printer, enable "Send as XML". Thus, FL system will communicate with the printer through a XML protocol.

Button Dispenser
First you must "Initiate communications" with dispenser. Then, you can "Print sample" and "Setup Logo" like the Touch type dispenser (Printer Settings).
Click "Initiate Test" to start testing dispenser's physical buttons. If everything is working properly, clicking the physical button in dispenser will make blink the corresponding number.

In "List of actions", you can set what action will be made when each button is pressed. For example, if you want button 1 and button 3 to print the same ticket, just set the same action.

You can also customize the text that will be printed on each ticket, like the Touch type dispenser (Printer Settings).
Caller Buttons
Configure the hardware buttons used for calling the tickets, being them CLU or CLA. The buttons need to be connected to the computer in the Serial Port and then specified in the communication port to which COM port it corresponds to.

To know which button corresponds to each input number, use the Start Test button and then press the button. The input number should blink.

After all buttons have been mapped, it's safe to set actions and assign the buttons to desks.

In the case of CLA, the buttons need to be manually registered. This is done by specifying which INput number is to be associated with the list of actions and specify the button code. The button code is a code in the back of the CLA buttons.

Layout
All the components but the table body can be disabled.

Background
Margins
Independent of the background type, it's always possible to configure the margins.

Background
;None
:This option is almost the same as not having the background enabled. The only difference is that the margins can still be applied this way.

;Solid Colour
:Sets a background colour with the option of adding more or less opacity, add round corners and specifying a border. The border can be enabled or disabled and have a specific thickness, colour and opacity.

;Linear Gradient
:This option is similar to the Solid Colour with the difference that can be applied a gradient. The gradient implies adding a second colour with a dedicated transparency setting as well as the angle of the gradient.

;Image
:Allows setting an image background. The image can be scaled to fit or stretch and be aligned vertically and horizontally. The border and corners can also be configured the same way they are when using Solid Colour.

Corners
Instead of having round corners, it's possible to add round corners by setting the corner radius.

Line
A border can be activated and configured with a specific width, color, and opacity.

clear
Header Row
Layout
Height is self explanatory, it controls the height of the title. The bottom spacing is the space between the Header row and the Table body.

Font
Here you can configure the font like any regular text editor. If the horizontal alignment is left or right, indentation will become enabled so the component doesn't have to be in the edge of the component. It's also possible to configure vertical alignment but in this case it's not possible to add a vertical indentation. The size is automatic by default so it has the maximum size that fits in the component.

Header Row Type
Specify whether to use linked or separated rows in the header. Basically, the linked version will remove the inner borders of the row.

Background, Corners and Line
The background, corner and line are configured the same way as in the Background component.

Shadow
It's possible to add a shadow to the component with the configurable options being angle, blur, distance, colour and opacity.

clear
Table Body
Layout
Here you can configure the number of columns and rows and its layout.

Adding and removing columns will dynamically add the needed fields to configure their width. After adding/removing it's probably a good idea to use the "Auto adjust" button to set all columns to the same width.

It's also possible to configure the number of rows that will be displayed in each slide as well as the time that slide will show before it passes on to the next slide.

The gap between columns and rows is also configurable. The gap will be filled with the configured background.

Font
Font can be configured as in the Header Row component

Background, Corners and Line
The background, corner and line are configured the same way as in the Background component.

Shadow
Shadow can be configured the same way as in the Header Row component.

Styles
All the work done in the design tab can be saved as a style for posterior use. All saved styles are accessible even when switching projects. This feature only applies to the Design portion of the Menu Board, not the Data.

It's also possible to export the style to a file to be imported on another computer or to save as a backup.

When a style is selected it is instantly applied. To revert the style application use the reset button. That will reset to the style that was applied before entering the Styles screen.

The Data Tab
Title
Use the title field to set the title.

Content
To add content use the "Add line" to add a row and double click the cell to edit its value.

Import/Export
It's possible to import exported files as well as files with CSV format. Use delimiter field to tell which delimiter is used in the provided CSV file. If the file has the columns with a title in the first row, tick the "First row as header?" field. The Menu Board is also able to grab the specified file periodically. To do so, tick the "Periodic" field and specify the time interval at which the Menu Board will get the file. That way you can update the data by just changing the file.

Use the "Export data" button to export the data to be used in another Menu Board.
There is already a extensive list of the most known cameras and their definitions. Some cameras also have the option to select the format. See Camera Stream Addresses below for more information.

If the desired camera isn't on the list, or a stream from another source is needed, the Expert tab allows for manual input of the entire URL.

It's possible to create a playlist of addresses that will play and specify the duration it will play until it passes to the next stream by the respective manufacturers.

The information displayed here was retrieved from the manufacturer's user manual. Not all streams were tested and can be changed by the manufacturer at any time.

TOC right

Introduction
Its configuration is divided in two major categories: Design and Data. As the name says, the Design tab handles all that's related to the design of the layout of the menu board with the possibility of saving that style to use with other menu boards. The Data tab holds only the data in the cells, which includes the images. This data can be imported as well as exported to a file.

The Design Tab
Layout
Configuration of the layout involves the background, title, header, image and table body.

Line
A border can be activated and configured with a specific width, color, and opacity.

clear
Title
Layout
Height is self explanatory, it controls the height of the title. The bottom spacing is the space between the title and the next enabled component. So, if a component is disabled, the configuration will still have the same effect.

Background, Corners and Line
The background, corner and line are configured the same way as in the Background component.

Shadow
It's possible to add a shadow to the component with the configurable options being angle, blur, distance, colour and opacity.

clear
Header Row
The Header Row component has the same configurations as the Title component with the exception of the font. The horizontal alignment done in this component is handled in the Table Body component.

clear

Image
Layout
There are 2 types of image layout. In line means the image will be within the row, as if it was a regular cell. When big is chosen, only the image of the first row will appear occupying the whole image column. Also, when big is selected, the option spacing becomes enabled to configure the space between the image and the rest of the table.

The horizontal alignment can be configured with the option position.

Scale
The scale mode scales the image in three different ways. Fit keeps the aspect ratio and scales the image in a way that it's all visible. Fill scales the image so it occupies the whole area keeping the aspect ratio. Stretch fills the whole area but displays the whole image by not forcing to keep the aspect ratio.

Corners and Line
Corners and line can be configured the same way it's configured in the Background component.

Shadow
Shadow can be configured the same way as in the Title component

clear
Table Body
Rows
Define the number of rows each screen will present, the vertical gap between rows and the time each slide will present before it passes to the next one.

Details
Enable or disable the description in the rows. If enabled, configurable values are the height and the top spacing relative to the description.

Reference
Enable or disable the reference column as well as configure the cell width.

Extra Columns
Add or remove extra columns. These columns are dynamic and have all the same (configurable) width. Removing columns here will not delete the data that is stored in the Data tab.

Font
All fonts are individually handled, so you can configure fonts for the description, extra columns, details and reference separately. Each one of them can be configured as in the Title component

Background, Corners and Line
The background, corner and line are configured the same way as in the Background component.

Shadow
Shadow can be configured the same way as in the Title component.

See Images to know how to add images to a row.

Images
To add images to a row go to the right section and click the button with tree dots (...). Select an image from the hard drive to add it to the selected row.

Note that, when "Periodic" is selected, only CSV files are allowed and the path to the images must be absolute.

Use the "Export data" button to export the data to be used in another Menu Board.

The Text Box works, in principle, the same way as Multimedia and Slide Show work.

There is a list of created texts that will be played for the duration specified in the column "Time".

The transition time refers to the time the effect takes to transition from one text to the next.

Applying already created styles to other text is very easy, just use "Copy Style" on the style you want to copy and "Paste Style" where you want to apply the style.

Add media
Add media such as videos and images from the hard drive

Add HTML
It's possible to add web pages from a local or remote URL. This is a easy way to add dynamic content such as information that is regularly updated without the need to edit the project.

This module does not support HTTPS or pages that require any kind of authentication or user interaction to access. All pages will be presented "as is".

Attention: Pages relying heavily on JavaScript and/or Flash can cause memory leaks.

Create image
This option creates a new item in the playlist that can be edited by selecting it and clicking Edit. This is a very simple editor capable of basic image and text manipulation, it's not meant to replace other complex third-party applications.

Create presentation
Please refer to Slide Show learn how to create presentations.

clear
Playlist
Displays a list of added multimedia items. Possible options for each items are:

Duration
Tells how long will the item be presented. After that time the next item in the playlist will be played.

Visibility
Determines whether the item will be played or not.

Stretch
Stretch the media to the full size of the module. This may imply changing the aspect ratio of the media.

Fullscreen
This option is only available when the module is configured as the Main Module.

Background
Defines the background of the module when the media is playing. It can be either transparent or black.

Schedule
An item can be configured to play only in a specified time interval, from a initial date or until an end date.

Edit
Allows to set a start and end point to the video so it only plays the selected part. It also allows to define the volume of the video.

Preload
Preloads the media 10 seconds before it's played so it has a smooth transition.

Preview
Displays a preview of the selected media having in account all the specified options.

Bulk Options
Applies options to all the selected items in the playlist. These options are the ones described in the Playlist section with the exception of the volume.

Slide Show
Top Bar
Add images
Imports images from the hard drive.

Import PPT/PPTX & PDF
Imports PPT, PPTX and PDF documents converting them to sequence of images representing each of the document.

Slides/Images
Shows a list of all the images to be displayed, much like the Playlist on the Multimedia module minus the options, which this has only one.

Duration
Tells how long will the image be presented. After that time the next image in the playlist will be shown.

Preview
Displays a preview of the selected media having in account all the specified options.

Set Value to Selected
Applies options to all the selected items in the playlist. The sequential renaming appends the order number to the specified title.

Transitions
Transitions can have animations. These animations can be random or have one specific effect, like crossfade or push. The time which each transition takes can also be configured to be shorter or longer.

After the transition, it's also possible to enable the animation to Pan & Zoom while waiting for the next image in the slide show. Beware that in weaker computers (below recommended system requirements), Transitions and Pan & Zoom effects may show some performance issues.
Initial Configuration
Configuration
Usually the Composer has the optimal configuration by default. The only thing you may wish to change is the language.

RSS Feeds
There are some default RSS Feeds preconfigured like news from BBC, CNN and others. For a more in-depth configuration of your feeds, please refer to RSS Feeds.

clear

Creating a Project
On the top left corner of the Composer application there is a button called "Projects". Clicking there will bring you to the project management window.
Here you have two sections. On the left, a list of all projects you already created as well as buttons to create a new project, duplicate an existing one or delete. On the right are the selected project details.

To create a new project click New, define a title, screen orientation (landscape or portrait) and resolution and Save. For optimal visualization, the project's screen resolution should be the same as the screen that is going to play the project.

clear
User Interface
Top
The top bar is for general purpose operations such as managing Projects, Schedules and Queues, configurations and deploying projects.

Project Overview
Displays the name of the project and the resolution being used, as well as allowing it to be changed. The right button allows for a preview of the project at its current state.
clear

Sidebar
The side bar is dedicated to the project being created. It's composed of 3 parts.

The first consists of information about the current project and a button to preview the work done so far.

The second configures the layout. The layout is composed by a Background and, optionally, a Mask.

The third is a list of modules that can be added to the project. There are multiple modules for multiple purposes, please refer to Modules to learn more about each one.

Workspace
The workspace consists in 2 parts, the Canvas and the Tools bar.

Canvas
This is where the modules are added, configured and arranged. The resultant layout is what the player will show with each module running.

Tools
With this tools, align modules is much easier. Here you could align each module in relation to another.
With "X, Y, W, H" text boxes, each module could be positioned and resized to the exact values of "X", "Y", "Width" and "Height".

In this toolbar it's possible to enable "Snap to pixel" and "Show guides" options, as well as set how many pixels you want to move each module.

The Play Button
After creating a Project, it must be sent to a Player. This button will do just that. Note that the player(s) must be running to be able to send projects. The mechanism for sending projects and schedules varies depending on whether you are using Local Composer (the Composer on the same player), Network Composer or E-Composer.

Local Composer
Simply select the project (or schedule) you want to send to the local player. Note that the project currently open will be selected when the window is opened. The player (if minimised) will open.

clear
Network Composer
Network Composer can be used to send projects to one or more players inside a network. It's possible to search players to automatically detect players inside the network and add them to the player's list. If the player can't be found for some reason, the Add player button can be used to manually insert the player by its IP address. You must also know the username and password of the player, which can be defined in its configurations.

In the player's list the following options are available:

;Connect
:To be able to send projects to a player, it needs to be connected (green circle)
;Information
:Displays information about the selected player
;Screenshot
:Takes a screenshot of what's currently running on the player and displays it
;Settings
:Configures the connection to the player. Auto check for IP changes allows for, when a player gets its IP from a DHCP server, to automatically update the IP.
;Download project
:Downloads the current project, or projects, running on the player

To assign a project to one or more players, just select the players you want to assign the project to, select the project, and press Play.

clear

E-Composer
In E-Composer you don't send projects to players. Instead you send it to the Content Manager. It's also possible to fetch existing projects from the server to the local composer provided you have the needed permissions.

E-Composer is integrated with Content Manager's Publishing System, so you can send a project to the server and publish it at the same time.

DS Composer & Player Setup
DS Composer Pre-requisites
The DS Installer provides all the required software. To ensure that all video formats are supported on your PC, prease install the Windows 7 Codec Pack.

Alternately you can install these optional codec utilities:

* Install codecs:
** ffdshow - Should be enough for most of the videos.
** GSpot - In case the video needs extra codecs and you don't know which, this program can help you find out which.

Typical Configurations
Standalone Configuration
Standalone configuration is a single box solution, requiring no second PC. All DS players
have Composer pre-installed and are capable of operating in this way.

In this setup the same computer is used to create presentations and to playback them, suitable
for smaller installations. It’s highly advisable to use a PC with dual head VGA graphics adapter.

You can also operate with a single screen. In this case the player must be shut down for
composer operation.

Network Configuration
Network configuration is a more flexible solution, where Network Composer is installed on a client
PC connected to the local network. The player is usually positioned close to the digital signage
display screen and also connected to the local network. Once installed, DS Network
Composer can automatically detect any players connected to the network.

Usually all players and composers are connected on the same local network (same subnet). This
is a requirement for Network Composer’s Player Search facility. It is possible to connect players
across Wide Area Networks (WAN). Please consult the chapter on Advanced Player
Configuration and/or consult your IT specialist.

Installing DS Composer On a Client PC
Insert the Software CD or USB Key into the client computer and run the Install program.

When the Setup screen appears, follow the instructions to install DS Composer on your computer. If
the Install screen does not appear automatically, click the Start button on your Windows
taskbar and then click the Run command. When the Run dialog box opens, enter D:\install.bat
and click OK (where D is the letter of your CD-ROM or USB drive)

Important: For managed clients, DS must be installed by a system administrator. Consult your IT specialist.
